The National Association of State Offices of Rural Health recognized Mercy Health/Love County Hospital as a "Community Star" on National Rural Health Day, November 19, 2015.

The hospital is featured in a publication "showing how rural America addresses the unique health care needs of rural communities." The online book highlights a total of 10 rural physicians and 12 rural hospitals.

MHLC was commended for building a "health campus" to benefit Marietta and Love County, OK.

The campus includes an Adult Day Center and a Social Services Building, both opened on Wanda St. in 2014, and a growers market and a walking trail, both on Legacy Lane and set to open officially in 2016.

The publication drew special attention to the 2,200 square foot Social Services Building one block south of the hospital's main entrance. It was constructed so that some important community organizations could remain in Marietta serving patients and the public.

These included the Love County Senior Program, Department of Human Services, and Love County System of Care.

"Community members," the story said, "believe the hospital is absolutely demonstrating their motto, 'small town hospital with the big heart,' by making a place for these vital services within the community."
