Legacy Park north of Mercy Health/Love County Hospital took a beautiful leap forward on March 20 with the installation of 33 trees donated by Love County organizations and individuals.
Very soon the trees will provide shade to walkers and joggers on the popular ½ mile Legacy Park recreational loop trail that opened in 2016.

rural health clinic celebrated 20 years in its own building on March 22.
Shown is the original building that opened in 1998 adjoining the hospital
plus a 3,000 square-foot expansion on the right that opened in 2011.
It was one of the most awaited moving days in local memory.

Lab Adds New Flu Testing Device

Laboratory director Kelvin McMillan displays the speedier machine and test kit items the hospital and
clinic are using to detect influenza. Patients are testing positive in about equal numbers to influenza A and
influenza B, McMillan said. About 60 patients were diagnosed with flue in the first five days from
February 9-14. The equipment takes 15 minutes to scan a nasal swab and display the test results.
